How Do Shoe Trees Protect The Leather

Whether you think your feet are sweating more or less, they will sweat. Although the socks will definitely act as a barrier, the leather and lining of the shoes will still absorb moisture. Over time, this may cause the liner to decay and may crack the leather. Not to mention smelly feet.

Therefore, it is very important to remove water from the shoes when removing them. For this reason, the material of the shoe tree needs to be porous, such as wood. Plastic will not solve the problem. For the same reason, we like wooden hangers for suits, so we want cedar wood as the ideal shoe material.

There are many reasons why cedar is preferred over other types of wood. Because it contains natural oils that do not support the growth of bacteria or fungi, it is particularly resistant to damage caused by rot or water (obviously, this is very important for absorbing sweat!). Cedar is also a very strong wood, but lighter than oak and cheaper than teak. Therefore, this is a relatively cheap option for shoe trees. In addition, the natural aroma of cedar is a little pungent and can repel insects naturally, but fortunately, it smells good for us people.
